The Nord Center’s Africancentric Services are designed to meet the mental health needs of adult African Americans coping with severe and persistent mental illness who reside in Lorain County.
Services are provided by an Africancentric Case Management Team comprised of professionals whose desire is to enhance the lifestyle of African American consumers by focusing on the importance of a shared history, common culture, and family values.
Consumers who chose to partake of the services of the Africancentric Team will find a comfortable environment where they can communicate freely with professionals who share the same culture.
The Nord Center’s Bilingual/Hispanic Services Team has provided culturally appropriate mental health services to adult Hispanic/Latino consumers living in Lorain County. The Team’s purpose is to provide a comfortable environment where individuals can communicate freely in their own language with professionals who share the same language and culture.
All members of the Bilingual/Hispanic Services Team are fluent in Spanish and knowledgeable regarding cultural issues that impact assessment and treatment for Hispanic/Latino consumers and their families. Active case management is a major focus of the Team with outreach and support taking place in a variety of community locations, including the home.
Consumers who contact The Nord Center will find Spanish-speaking staff answering the phones, scheduling appointments and greeting clients.
